We need to believe and embrace that intuition beats intellection. When it comes to religious formation:
meaning our character, our ethics, our beliefs,
the things that ultimately form the way we live,
Intuitive Development matters
far more than intellectual development.

"Israel ate the meat of a dumb lamb to complete the Passover. Having done so, they smeared their doorposts with blood and laughed at the destroyer." - Athanasius 4th Century
Amidst the pain
Of suffering
Of deceit
Of injustice
Of sorrow
I Stand
Behind the Blood
And proclaim:
"You can kill my body but you cannot have my soul.
I am purchased by the Redeemer who Rose Again.
And when sin's tantrum is finally exhausted I will stand with my King,
Fully alive.

Why are Christians failing to pass-on the Faith even to our own children?
The value of one generation sharing the story of God with the next is one of the highest in scripture. But we don’t do this well.
I think one of the reasons we often strike out here is that we fail to appreciate our children’s capacity for spiritual insight. We dumb down spiritual mystery so dramatically that our stories lose their capacity to captivate.

Sabrina Nisan and Kait Henning have a passion to blend their love of worship with their love of discipling youth! Many youth from our 10/13 group and our Ember (high school) group also love music, so it seemed a perfect idea to launch a youth worship team.
Darrell and I also have a passion for music and youth, especially since we have 2 musician sons in this age group. We are excited to host the weekly meetings and practices to see the goal of discipling these kids to worship God and serve by using their gifts to help others engage...

This week we began a 35 day journey of praying for one another. We prayed for the discouraged and the disappointed and the sick and the lonely... After my evening prayers I posted brief reflections on the specific need we prayed for that day. (You can see these reflections, if you've not already, on Emmaus' Facebook page). I was encouraged and a bit surprised by the response. As a pastor and preacher, I'm always on the lookout for what "connects" with people. Clearly, disappointment, discouragement, and needs of all kinds are familiar to many o...

Magi from the east declare, "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him."
"When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him." (Matthew 2)
Why was Jerusalem disturbed? What had they to lose?
Herod feared for his throne. But the people? Why weren't they celebrating the arrival of the Deliverer long-awaited, the Savior promised by prophets? Why were they troubled?
Find out why all of Jerusalem was troubled and why it matters to you this Christmas.

I love it when someone in our Emmaus community is so touched and transformed by a message that God gives them lyrics and even a melody to express what is happening in their heart! This happened recently in my husband, Darrell Haskins, after a message by Nate called "They Reveled in His Glory". I love the line, "You are here now with us and revel in your presence". It reminds me of the name for Jesus, Emanuel, meaning "God with us." There is nothing more amazing than that and certainly the best reason to revel! Read the lyrics belo...

At Emmaus, we value our gathering area and the atmosphere for worship. We are intentional about creating sacred space so that it is easier to engage in worship and to experience God each Sunday. For each series we take the opportunity to create a new set design that will help shape people's expereince in the worship service. Here's a peek into the creation of the current set for Advent.
Come Join us for Church in Lincoln, CA on a Sunday morning at 10 am and see what you think of the new design.
