There are things about God – there are truths – which I have experienced that I can tell parents whose children are in the intensive care unit of the hospital that I simply can’t tell parents whose kids have never been in the hospital.
It’s not because they’re not smart enough.
It’s not because they’re not loving enough.
It’s simply a function of the fact that experience opens us up to the significance of certain truths that, without that experience first opening the door to mystery, we simply don’t have the capacity to hear or understand.
The doorway to knowing the secret wisdom of God (1 Cor. 2) is experience.
